About me and my work

I have been an artist all of my life – from my earliest days with a large roll of paper and mixed up box of crayons of varying lengths, to my undergraduate work as a printmaker and bookmaker, to my recent colored pencil drawings in my professional life – my life has been a constant affair with art. Though the medium has changed over the years, as well as the subject of my work, one thing remains the same – the act of creating art brings me joy in an otherwise troubled world.

My artwork has never been political or controversial in nature; it’s largely representational. A large body of my work consists of landscapes – places that I have been and enjoyed; a place that is just a little bit closer to the divine and the perfection that is nature.

I am very passionate about art. My goal as an art educator is to encourage that same passion and appreciation for the arts from all of my students. One doesn’t need to be a talented painter to truly appreciate a beautifully painted work of art. I encourage my students to talk with their peers about their work in a group setting, providing thoughtful and constructive feedback to help make their work better. Lastly, I offer a inclusive, equitable environment for all of my students to thrive and enjoy their art education.
